Manchester Airports Group
Overview
KMP has worked with Manchester Airports Group since 2000. The latest release of the website which was developed, implemented and is now maintained by KMP was successfully delivered in January 2008. This version supports all 4 airport websites that make up the group: Humberside, Bournemouth, East Midlands and Manchester Airport .
All 4 websites are fully content managed by the Manchester Airports Group (using IBM's WWCMS) with content contributors spread across the difference airport sites. All 4 sites are integrated with several internal and external systems and data feeds.
There is an average of 35,000 visitors to the sites each day and over 400,000 individuals have registered to receive personalised updates and special offers.
Systems such as authentication, back end databases and XML feeds within the airport were integrated into the sites to provide a seamless experience to the stakeholders. The resulting implementation is continually maintained and monitored on a 24/7 basis by our team of engineers. Proactive enhancements to the service are recommended by our client services and research teams in order to keep the presence at the forefront of the international Airport market.
Criteria for measurement of success:
Goals for the new MAG websites were primarily centred on the following criteria:
- Design improvements to reflect the new brand and update the site structure
- Improving Revenue by at least 20%
- Optimising back office process
The Results
Design
KMP’s new design and information architecture enabled over 2000 pages to be optimised and categorised, at the highest level, into 9 clearly defined areas. Corporate information, previously a prominent link in the main navigation was demoted to secondary navigation so the key revenue generating parts of the site can be given as much prominence as possible.
Revenues using Car Parking as an example
Compared to the same period in 2007 since we launched the new sites car parking revenues have increased by 35%.
Optimising Back Office Process
The IBM Content management system deployed by KMP now means that the same system is now used across the whole group for the consumer sites, intranet, extranet, corporate site and trade sites.
