Facebook and MySpace
Social Media Networking accounts for nearly 4% of all UK search terms, and in 2006 social networks Bebo and MySpace were the two most searched for terms using Google's search engine. The 3 networks of Bebo, MySpace and Facebook account for 13.7 million users, and in May 2007 alone 500,000 UK citizens visited all 3 sites.

Social Networks like Facebook and MySpace are quickly becoming the hub of all social activity, and at KMP we believe that this trend provides many exciting marketing opportunities for businesses. Social Networks reach out to such a large audience of people, and this in itself is an opportunity.
There are several different ways that Social Networks can be used for marketing purposes.
Firstly, banners can be designed and used as an advertising feature that appears alongside a user’s Facebook profile. Over the course of a month a banner can expect to make approximately 4,166,666 impressions, which can be increased to 12,500,000 over 2 months.
Social groups can be created in order to provide a forum for people with a common interest. These groups represent a promotional opportunity as the sponsored group represents the most integrated advertising opportunity on Facebook. KMP recognise that the sponsored group combines the functional and personal features of a user-created group with a valuable advertising opportunity.
Facebook Application’s present a further marketing opportunity. Applications were first launched in March 2007, and are currently the main driving force behind the growth of Facebook. There are currently 2,427 applications on Facebook, and more are being created everyday. We’ve even started to build them here at KMP! The top 100 Facebook applications have been added (cumulatively) over 130,686,000 times, with the average user hosting over 4.3 active applications running at any one time.
