Usability, User Experience and Accessibility
Usability is a quantitative measurement based on the time it takes for a user to perform certain tasks. This includes the time taken to read instructions, find page elements, type or even move the cursor.
In cases where the site includes e-commerce functionality, usability is a major concern. A study by the Nielsen Norman Group showed that a 5% improvement in usability could increase revenues by 10% to 35%.
User Experience is a name used to identify the "feel-good" factor that can set apart a website or application. Improvements in user experience may negatively impact usability but in general, a good user experience will create customer loyalty, possibly turning one sale into repeat business.
Accessibility is important in allowing as wide a range of visitors as possible to access your information. These include non-visual browsers as used by the visually impaired but also includes mobile devices such as PDAs or web-enabled mobile phones.
KMP will ensure that your site is optimised against the agreed objectives for these parameters set out at the beginning of a website development programme.
